Agata works with clay and empathy. Her practice is rooted in care, listening, and social engagement.

The Vessel Project was created in collaboration with individuals experiencing homelessness and migration. Together with participants Agata explored the theme what we carry with us - memories, stories, and experiences. The workshops began with experimentation with surface decoration on clay tiles. Agata threw clay vessels on a potter’s wheel, which were then decorated by the participants, each with visual elements of their own memories.
Reflecting on her engagement with the participants’ stories, Agata responded with her own vessels, incorporating words and faces into surface decoration.

In 2019, during one of my creative workshops at the Refugee Centre, a women shaped a small clay leaf. She added a wooden stick, and then, using her plastic glove, made a sail. With a sparkle in her eye, she mimed the rocking of a wave, pointed to herself, then to the boat. It was how she arrived. The joy and clarity of her expression left a lasting impression on me. After reading ‘The Silent Serial Killer: 391 Deaths in 25 Years at the UK Border’ by Maël Galisson - a harrowing investigation into the hundreds of migrants who have died trying to cross into the UK I though about this lady and how lucky I was to meet her. She is an inspiration behind this project.
